To inform participants of the importance of sleep to mental and physical health.

Up to 30% of the population experience sleep problems. Artists may have even higher rates of sleep problems due to variable schedules and the stress they often experience. Given the link between sleep problems and a number of chronic conditions, including chronic pain, improving the sleep can decrease their risk of various health conditions, thereby improving their quality of life. Research on self-shiatsu has demonstrated subjective improvements in sleep. This and other self-care strategies, which participants will be guided through, can help you to achieve restorative sleep.
